  • Michael Dane: BE WARNED: Everything is by appointment only, now. Don’t make the mistake I did and take the bus 45 minutes there on the coldest day so far this winter, only to find “Appointment Only” signs plastered on every other tinted pane across the building. You surely, will not, be enthused.
  • Daniel Means: I was able to acquire my temporary instructional permit within 15 minutes of walking in the door. A quick in and out if you will. The Staff were more than professional and very helpful.
  • Jennifer Lapeyrolerie: Why do I always get the one person who doesn’t know what she is doing and does not have the capacity to be logical? Thank goodness for all of the others there who are professional and helpful or I would have caused quite a scene. It all …
  • Judith: We were in and out in under an hour!!! Covid MAY be the best thing to happen to the OMV!!! The employees were all so friendly and helpful and nice!! They didn’t seem stressed out or miserable like in passed visits when there was such a full lobby… Really was a fast and productive visit!
  • Iesha C.: I came to this location because the earliest appt. at my local Slidell location just wasn’t convenient enough. (More than 2weeks out). I had all my info, scheduled appt, cash and was ready to roll. Reading other reviews yes they are appt. …
  • Raza Jawed: What an unprofessional staff they do not respect your time you take appointments online finally you get date after 2 week and when you go there they not even open. On the door it’s say we are close until further notice even tho you get …
  • Edwin Marioneaux: The police officer was very helpful and nice. However, the manager acted very unhelpful and didn’t want to be bothered
  • Sanad Ahmed: Very kind and helpful stuff , keep doing the great work and fast service.
  • Alicia R: Got a license transfer yesterday. I really hope they keep the appointment system as it made everything go smoothly. To the lady working at window 4 during my 1pm appointment, thanks for being so nice and professionally (all the staff were).
  • Kev: I can’t believe I’m giving five stars for a DMV location but they deserve it. Fast and polite service.
  • Royal Trash: Rode a bike almost an hour to get there just see that they were closed “until further notice”. No reason given, just closed. Made an 8 mile bike ride for absolutely nothing. They don’t even offer the option to order a replacement license online…. thanks.
  • robert pittman: Workers refuses to help in any slight way at all, and does not know their own policies in what they can and cannot accept to get an ID. I’ve never had a bigger waste of time than going here (let these dummies know that they list that you …
  • Rockie: So much better having a scheduled appointment. The person who helped me was so humble and courteous.
  • Cecilia Mcnatt: The worst place ever visited. Terrible attention looks everybody mad to work there
  • Anne Courtney: Had to call Specialized Plate Unit three times; hung up on three separate times just to get a tracking number for a plate ordered 10/15/2020 and produced on 01/27/2021. Still not received.
  • Scott B: So nice since it’s appointment only, compared to how it was before the pandemic
  • David Brooks: It’s by appointment only these days due to the pandemic. Goto to book your fun and exciting OMV visit today!
  • TIFFANY 504: Trailers and SALVAGE TITLE requres LA State police to INSPECT he was awesome amid Covid 19 I was quickly seen
  • Dwight Hobberechts: Great experience at the New Orleans-Veterans Office of Motor Vehicles. I got in 7 minutes earlier than my 1:50 PM appointment time. And then all was very smooth getting my Real ID.
  • Wendy O: Very rude and unorganized. Two other men were called in after my son but were waited on before him. All getting the same thing done. Maybe they don’t like white people. That’s the way things are these days I guess. Whatever, God or karma …
  • Ernest Davis: All you have to do is go on line for your service and receive a text when to come for an appointment…..It was very well coordinated……
  • CrNessata: I’m so grateful they were open today (two others weren’t), but I got a sunburn on both arms standing out in the sun for almost two hours. It was HOT. I don’t mind that they took so long as much as I just wish they could set up a tent or …
  • Marius Commodore: Lady at the door was tough and firm…maybe than she needed to be. BUT between needing an appointment and the security directing you to the correct booth this was one of the most pleasant experiences I have ever had at a DMV. Keep the appointment based scheduling after the pandemic please!!!!
  • Andrew Patz: In terms of DMVs, this one is above average compared to my experiences in other states. The people were surprisingly friendly though the processing was still unnecessarily confusing and expensive, as is custom.
  • James Williams: The lady that helped me with my Disabled veterans license plate did a wonderful job.
  • Saleh Babazadeh: This is mismanagement I am documenting. Today is June 3rd 2020, it means that Louisiana has had more than 2 months to plan for reopening. With all the limitations due to COVID-19 this is a S$#t show in another level. The public service in New Orleans has always been dysfunctional, however this is non-functional.
  • Ryan Anderson: If the Office of Motor Vehicles (as an entity serving the people) got a quarter as much funding as our completely corrupted police department. Maybe they would have working credit card readers/ID Cameras. But they do not, so nothing works …
  • Ahmed Sidi Mohamed: IF THERE WAS A LOWER RATING, I WOULD HAVE PUT IT. This office is the worst ever. The staff is rude and very disrespectful. Not even eye contact with customer. After I waited long in line, the lady said it’s 12h you will have to come back at …
  • Tristan Petashnick: Getting my Louisiana license and was told to brace myself for a long and difficult day here.. In and out in approximately 2 hours. They were moving as quickly as they could while still following social distancing rules. Employees all efficient and friendly. Wasn’t nearly as painful as expected.
  • Dawn Bourgeois: I asked when I first got there if I had everything I needed in order to complete my transaction. I was told that I did. When I finally got to the counter, I waited patiently while the rep and her coworker finished their conversation about …
  • Amy: Can’t believeI’m giving the OMV 5 stars but the new appointment system was super efficient. Every one I came in contact with was courteous and kind. Masks worn by all. I was in and out in less than half an hour with a new driver’s license and an updated registration.
  • Shan.v le: You have to make an appointment to be seen here unless it’s for vehicle inspections.

Functions of the department of motor vehicles

DMV offices have many functions. If you are a driver (or want to be one), going to one of these offices will be something you will have to do at some point in your life.

For example, one of the most popular functions is to renew your driver’s license. It’s a simple procedure, where you may be asked to take a health test to make sure you are fully fit to drive. It is also a place where people go to get their license. To do so, they will have to pass a theoretical and practical test.

In case you buy a vehicle, you will have to go to register it in your name. This procedure is also done if there is a purchase between individuals, that is, if someone sells their vehicle and you buy it, you will have to go and pay a small fee.

License plates must also be handled here. Whether it is to give you a permanent license plate or a temporary tag, you should ask for information if you buy a car or motorcycle.

In general, DMV offices are designed to handle everything that has to do with motor vehicle paperwork. There are a multitude of offices in Louisiana where you can carry out all the formalities you need. In addition, in New Orleans you can request an appointment online if necessary, as well as pay fees and other expenses without having to go anywhere.

The Department of Motor Vehicles is located throughout the United States. The people who work there will be able to answer your questions or suggestions in case you have any problems, and surely in a very short time you can have everything you need to drive safely and within the law.
